Planted big, beautiful heads of Tassie garlic, along with brown onion, broad beans, mini cauliflower and beetroot...may be too late, but thought I’d give it a go as those seedlings I’d grown from seed have been chomped!
Spring onions, chili, capsicum, eggplant and cucumber are powering on...just learnt a great Vietnamese recipe for eggplant, red capsicum and tomato salad. Brilliant...need alternative to Baba Ghanoush!
Broccoli's hanging in there...considering nasty slug invasion. Beer traps required!
Coriander doing a little better in the cooler weather. Carrots few and far between.
Pruned tomatoes again to allow air movement and let light in. Reducing the load of fruit means an abundance of green tomatoes...ready to pickle. Others are finally ripening.
Left Purple King beans on frame to allow pods to dry. A great supply of seed for later this year, as well as a second crop of beans to compliment our salads.
Herbs doing well include parsley, basil (finally), oregano, Vietnamese mint, and lemongrass.
Lemon verbena and passionfruit are also putting on some good growth. Flowers of verbena will be good alternative to mini lavender pillows.
Citrus feeling unloved!
